Rooftop Gardens Make the City A Better Place

I love a lot of places on my campus at school.  There is a section on the fourth floor of the library that is the best place to study, and a few trees and a little garden where people put their enos up, and a little fountain with some brick pathways over by the campus art gallery that is perfect for a nice spring or fall day (not summer there are too many bugs).  However, one of my favorite views of the city will forever be the rooftop garden on top of one of the art buildings.  It just one of those little things that you would never even see unless you knew that it was there.  It isn't just like one of those concrete ones with a few benches that seems like a way to bring a little space into a crowed city either though. We are talking a full out garden and slate patio (which I'm sitting on right now cause the bench is taken and its hot).  There are succulents(we go trendy at VCU) even a metal windmill type thing(more like a sculpture that spins in the wind maybe? still not sure).

It so easy to forget that you are in the middle of downtown when you are up here which is perfect and why I love it so much.  The constant horn honks and sirens tend to bring you back to reality but its a nice break from the world below you and takes you out of the craziness that is college. So why not have more rooftop gardens in the city? Well maybe there are some and I just haven't found them yet.

P.S. Sorry for the iPhone pictures, I wasn't really planning to do a post until I was sitting up there in the moment!
