Like Her, Love Her

I like both of these pictures.
The main difference is that the first one the focus is in the foreground with a lighter overall tone and the second one has a stronger focus in the background and a darker overall tone.
I serious can't pick though.
What do you think?

P.S. I know this is a repost from a few months ago but somehow I accidentally did something to it and it reposted!

15 Minutes

I'm Back!! School got crazy and exams and everything but now its Christmas break so I have some posts to type that never got finished and hopefully some other fun posts!!

Anyways, remember in my 100th post where I said that I was at the museum working on something for a class and I would post it later after I turned it in?  Well long story short we never ended up really having to present it like I thought and so while waiting for what I had to do with it in class I waited it post it..and now since school is over, I figured I might as well post it!!

We were shooting a documentary and we had to go to possible place that we would like to interview our person or the place that we were doing our documentary on and do an observation piece.  We were supposed to record sound for 15 minutes and then for a different 15 minutes write what was going on around us while we were sitting there.  After I did the writing piece I decide that it might be something interesting to post on the blog.  The specific name of the place has been taken out and the typos fixed and some of it may not make since it is specific to my class but other then that enjoy!

Moving Pixels: Observation Exercise

Setting: ******** ** Patio in the gardens of ****

Time: 1:15 PM

A siren sounds far off in the distance but not loud enough to disturb the area around VMFA. Up the grassy hill from me water running sounds almost as if there is a waterfall, however it is just the fountain above me.  I begin to hear a second siren and realize that in recording sound this could become a problem.  The sound of a  small group of people walking up the entrance of the museum wafts over to me but not loud enough that I can hear what they are saying.  Someone is sitting down near me in the sun.  He is sitting in one chair and propping his feet up in the other one reading a book, this does seem like a good place to read a book.  As a bird or a few birds start to chirp a plane flying over disrupting the quiet calmness but not enough to bother any one that is sitting around the area.  Across the patio and by the parking lot two friends meet, great, and hug whether on purpose or on accident I don’t know.  The occasional sound of footsteps of people meandering by me as I am sitting is enough to let me know that I am not alone.  While on a busy road I do not hear too much sound from the cars going by and what I do hear almost adds to the tranquility of the space something that I didn’t think that it would do.  Every so often one louder car will go by and break that sound though.  The sound of the cars is almost like the sound of the waterfall it starts to blend into the background except for the occasional different truck.  A new sound is added to the environment as someone walks by me on speakerphone but she is soon past and the sound goes back to how it was before.  As a third plane fly over I realize that while I don’t mind it in a video this could be a problem.  A small tinkle of laugher floats through a air from the three people that are sitting at the patio of the restaurant and have been since I got here.  They are far enough away that all I can hear from them is the murmur a voices without being able to distinctively anything from them.  A fourth person just came out to the patio but is sitting at a table alone.  He looks like he could be a worker at the museum that is out on his break, the sound that his chair made while he pulled it out from the table being a very distinctive noise.  Next a security guard and a lady are walking by and talking.  Even though she is wearing what seem to be boots they actually look like high heels.  Every so often sounds a light music floats over too me.  I even had to check at one point that it wasn’t my phone playing but I’m pretty sure it is from the café.  As I sit two more girls walk by where I am sitting there is a wooden bridge near me and the footsteps seem louder there then on the stone where I am.  Another sound of laughter from the group of three comes to me as a lone man walks down the stairs on the grassy hill.  I begin to hear the music from the restaurant again as louder burst of laugher reaches me, and the chair of the lone man on the patio is pulled out and pushed in again and footsteps approach me one more time.

Time:1:30

Recording sarted at 1:35 PM

I know that this post was different then what I normally do but I hope you enjoyed! Hope the end of school and the break is treating you well!!

I currently have a few in drafts and one that I posted and then deleted (whoops haha) but this is now my hundredth post and Im not going to delete anything before this so it wills tay that way!
Anyways I knew that I was getting close to the big 100 and I wanted to do like a flashback post or something, However, this fell directly after the blog birth post (check it out if you haven't seen it yet) and I did the flashback for that one.  I would do one for this too if they weren't back to back posts so instead I'm going to leave you some things to look forward too in the next 100 posts(wow that seems like a lot now that I am saying that)

1) more outfit posts

2) more Music Monday Posts (stay tuned there is one already finished that will be going up next Monday about music in other languages;)

But since of course I had my camera with me I took some photos to post today just cause I like it here and to get you excited for whats to come!!

Any guesses what you think I'm doing?

Dead Flowers?

We've all been there, working on cleaning or a project or anything really and we come across something that we didn't know we had.
The other night I was working on a still like photo project and I was using different things around my room for my images, and as I was going around my room I happened to notice that I have way more dead flowers then I realized.

Now just to put this out there is isn't like I just started finding random dead flowers chillen in like my closet or dresser that I hadn't put there or never seen before cause that would be kinda just a little bit weird.
I knew that I had flowers around my room from different things and I knew where they all were, it just never hit me until I started putting them together to take pictures that there were more then I thought that there were.

On another note I have absolutely no problem with this at all, I have kept the flowers that I have gotten over time from different things and I like them!
I've alway kinda liked the ascetic of them and it funny that I had more of something that I liked then i ever realized.

New Year New Me?

Everyone starts off the school year with the idea that everything is going to go great and be perfect. Your going to get better grades then last year, try harder, miss less class, stagy more organized and everything is going to be as perfect as possible, we all do it don't deny it!

However, about a week or two into school the semester starts to look something like a big black never ending hole of homework and projects and everything else in between.  You start to feel like your getting sucked in and your never coming out. and all those promises that you made to yourself are going down the drain.

It ok though cause jus think of is this way..only 3 months and some days till Christmas and even less then that for Thanksgiving.

Hope your school year actually doesn't look like this big black whole of mine!!

Doing What You Love

As some of you may know by now I am an art major in college.  Recently, I was working on a crazy project (that I will post soon so check back up later!!).  Anyways, one of my friends was helping me film it and he asked if it would be done in three or four weeks.  He was shocked when I told him how soon the due date was for the project, how crunched for time I was, and how calm I was about the whole thing.  We started talking about the crazy due dates I get for projects and how many hours I spend in the studio outside of class.  He then asked me something that no one in the past two semester has ever asked me and it got me thinking.  He asked me why I did it and why I put myself through the stress of art school.

I started thinking and I realized it came down to doing what I love.  I love art.  It is the one thing that I have always loved and always will.  Most people don't get it and I understand that but I don't know who I would be without my art.  It's what I enjoy and what I love more then anything.  Right now if I was in college for anything else I would be miserable and my grades would probably show that.  Yes the crazy deadlines and the chance of having teachers that hate my style of work and the hours I spend working are insane and yes art school is harder then I ever thought that it would be in a million years but the thing is, that doesn't matter, what matters is that I am happy and that I am doing what makes me happy.

Life is short.  You can go do a bunch of crap that doesn't make you happy cause you feel like you have to because "it's life". The thing is a 9-5 standard job isn't for everyone.  Most people fill the shoes of a business person to get the money that they think they need to and do the job that they think that they need to but how many of those people say that they LOVE their job and that they are living out their dream?  Probably the majority of them would say that they aren't.  The thing is life is what you make it.  If you live life in the track that you feel like you have to, never doing what you want or love, always feeling mediocre, then as sad as it sounds your life is going to be mediocre.  You are only going to be completely and totally happy with your life if you go out and do what YOU love and what make YOU happy.  Please don't live you life trying to make other people happy.  Live your life so that you are happy.

Screw what everyone else thinks.
Screw the people who say that art school is to easy and that your just going to become a starving artist with a pointless degree.
In the little space in the world that is yours the only option that matters is yours.

And that my dears is why I am an art major.

One of a Kind

"This is the closet thing to magic in the real world"

That's something my photo teacher said the other day in the darkroom when my class was developing the picture that is above.  The other thing that stuck out is she said that this picture was something that could never be made again. We all went out and found random things and put them on this paper and after we took them on that was it.

There for it was...
one of a kind.

Emotions

Since I am in art school I figured it might be a good idea to start maybe posting some of my art work on here.
This is a recent animation I did for my film class that was actually do today!
Warning when it hits minute 1 it gets louder so watch if you are wearing headphone, I don't wanna make anyone go deaf!

The whole concept is happy verses sad and how society uses certain images to define happy and sad.  It also has to do with music and creating feeling.  For example, the ice cream truck music makes you feel happy.
It can also show a few other things like relationships.  The happy is the beginning and then the end is heartbreak.  Another thing it can show is growing up.  When your a little kid everything is happy and perfect and then as you grow up things change.

IF you think of it any other way let me know!
Hope you checked it out and enjoyed it.

The Art of Everything

One great thing about art is that you can make it out of anything that you have.  You don't always need the most expensive paint, or the nicest paint brushes, and the fanciest paper to be made.  While those are nice and do come in handy with some things,  I have had to create a way to be an artist on a budget.  In my soon to be broke art student status and from then countering the staving artist stereotype I have started to notice other ways that you can create art with a few basics and some imagination.  In all honesty just go around your room, go around you house, find things that you don't need, that need a little TLC, or just look like they could use some fixing up.
Art can be anything that you make with your hands.  You don't need to paint like Van Gogh, or be the next Chihuly of glass making.  Sometimes all you need is the leftover paint on you paper plate palate to be inspired.

Hope you have an Inspired rest of 2013!
Also Merry Christmas!

XOXO
